We still have several weeks left in the season, but we wanted to take a moment to say Thank You.
It is only through your support that we are able to do what we do.
Thank you for being a community of users that respect our trails, act responsibly, and share in the joy of experiencing the beauty of the Northwoods.
Thank you for volunteering to help us prepare our trails during the summer and fall seasons so that when the snow does start falling, we are ready.
Thank you for your continued donations so that we can invest in the equipment we need for grooming and the staff to do so.
Last fall we wrote about how winter trail preparation begins in the summer. If you missed that article, be sure to check it out. What you hopefully experienced this season was the fruits of that preparation.
Improvements made this summer allowed us to open, and provide decent skiing conditions just in time for Christmas. If you remember, we had to close our trails from mid-December until December 22nd after losing our entire early season snow base. Thankfully, the efforts we put in to level out certain sections of our ski trail paid dividends when it mattered most.
Another huge advantage this winter was the addition of a power tiller to our grooming fleet. Attached to our tractor, the tiller has allowed us to maintain very good to excellent grooming conditions all year.
And with the expansion of our staff this winter, we now have two full time groomers. Joel and Brad have been able to combine forces using our Mueller Nordic Tiller and our Yellowstone Ginzugroomer in coordination. This combination has allowed for some of the best groomed trails to date at WinMan.
Conditions were great today for a ski! 👏
It was absolutely perfect on the trails this morning. Thank you!!
Through these investments in trail improvements, equipment, and staffing, it will allow us to extend our season as long as possible. However, we can never predict when the season will end. So be sure to get to WinMan Trails now before the weather warms.
With increased mileage this year, riders have had more options and more opportunities to enjoy our trails. Changes made to our layout this summer, have really benefited riders this winter.
Riders can take advantage of Scout Trail to try out fat biking for the first time. At just 1/2 mile, the loop gives you an opportunity to try the sport for your yourself without over committing. It has also been used as a great way to warm-up, for riders test their tire pressure, and to make a decision on how many layers of clothing will be needed before exploring the larger trail system.
With the addition of Earn It, it is easier than ever to enjoy one last run on Twins or Send It before grabbing a drink in the chalet to end your Saturday.
It is also worth mentioning how the quality of our grooming on our fat biking trails has improved considerably this year. Through continued efforts and experimentation, the crew has modified our grooming techniques to provide some amazing riding this winter.
The trail conditions were nothing short of amazing. Thanks to the staff for making this place THE go to destination of the Northwoods.Don Roffers
There is rarely a weekend when I am not sharing our grooming strategies with a rider who volunteers to groom trails close to where they live. These interactions often end with a tour of our shop to check out our set-up and anticipation of how they can improve grooming on their home trails.
It was great chatting with Isaac after over a beer and talking grooming.Devin Wirtz
Through summer building efforts on our mountain bike trails, we were able to extend our backcountry snowshoe trails by over 2 miles.
Gene Machine takes you through some of the most beautiful sections of forest we have on our property. Efforts made by our volunteers allowed us to flag this route, and others, and improved navigation of our snowshoe trails.
For the first time, we also offered a backcountry skiing option. Starting from our Papoose Trailhead, the route leaves you surrounded by the beauty of the Northwoods and the quiet serenity of nature.
None of these improvements or additions to our winter trail system would have been possible without your support. As usual, our users tend to say things better than we can.
This all-season outdoor recreational park is such an amazing gift to the area – from mountain bike trails in the summer to ski, snowshoe, and fat tire bike trails in the winter, it has everything you need to get outdoors. If you’re a silent sport enthusiast, or just someone who loves to recreate outdoors, this is the place to be. The trails are great. The lodge is great. But most importantly, the community of outdoor enthusiasts is great. You will not be disappointed with a trip to WinMan. It is always time well spent.Kristi Waits & Thomas Ponik (aka Wainik’s World)
Thank you for allowing us to do what we do. The “community of outdoor enthusiasts” we get to share our trails with is nothing short of incredible. Thank you for being part of this community.
