August 11, 2024 @ 3:00 pm August 14, 2024 @ 2:00 pm

SAVE THE DATE – Registration opens soon

New for 2024 – we have added an additional night and more than a 1/2 day of additional riding for no extra charge! Huge thanks to our partners at Camp Jorn YMCA for helping us make this happen.

This incredible 3-day camp is limited to just 24 riders and is exclusively for kids ages 13-17. Participants will stay overnight in the Yurt Village at Camp Jorn and bike to/from WinMan each day. Participants will be riding for 4-8 hours each day and should be in good riding shape prior to camp. We strongly recommend that riders have some experience mountain biking to get the most out of the camp.

This experience will be led by Brian Matter. Brian grew up in southeast Michigan riding the Potawatomi Trail. He’s since turned that passion into a successful career of racing professionally in both Mountain Bike and Cyclocross. He’s represented the USA in both disciplines at the World Championships and has competed in multiple World Cup races throughout the world.

Camp Overview

Ride through the beautiful scenery of the Wisconsin Northwoods at WinMan Trails. With 23 miles of purpose built, professionally maintained bike trails, WinMan offers a little bit of everything. Gain experience at your own pace as you develop riding skills, get training ideas, learn race strategies, set goals, and tackle some of the most fun singletrack in the Midwest.

What to Expect

We will spend the majority of the time on our bikes building our skills, upwards of 3-6 hours of riding per day. Plan to be in shape prior to coming to camp. Expect challenging, fun trails that will push you to improve your riding, as well as fun, flowy trails that will keep you stoked!

Riders will commute 3.9 miles each way to/from WinMan Trails on the Heart of Vilas County paved trail system. While at Camp Jorn, riders can take advantage of the newly updated skills park located within the Yurt Village.

Special Requirements

This is a junior camp for cyclists ages 13 to 17, no exceptions. We will instruct campers to train at paces and riding levels that are appropriate for them; however, the camp may be intense for novice riders. Campers with any race or high school MTB competition experience will be a great fit for this camp.

Campers will need a helmet and bike that is appropriate for mountain biking. Rentals can be arranged through River’s Edge Adventure Company located in Manitowish Waters.

Other helpful items to bring include riding gloves, multiple riding kits, multiple cycling chamois, water bottles/bladders, spare/extra bike parts including tubes, bacon strips, a patch, tools, etc. We strongly recommend that campers bring high-protein snacks and electrolyte drinks to keep them fueled during the day.

Location

Camp Jorn is located on beautiful Rest Lake in Manitowish Waters, WI. WinMan Trails is less than 4 miles away in the town of Winchester, WI.

Accommodations

Riders will stay in Yurt Village at Camp Jorn. Our Junior Mountain Bike Camp will have exclusive rights to the 4 yurts on site with a nearby bathroom and shower facility, fire pit and picnic tables. Each yurt features electricity, ceiling fan and 6 twin bunk beds.

Linens are NOT included so campers will need to bring a twin sheet set, pillow, sleeping bag and a bath towel for showering. We will provide a full packing list once registered.

Meals

All meals will be provided as part of registration. Riders will have hot breakfast and dinner in the dining hall at Camp Jorn. Lunches will be bagged and enjoyed at the trails so we can maximize our time on bikes. Participants will get a total of 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners as part of the camp registration fee.

NOTE: riders should arrive at camp having already eaten dinner. The first meal will be served Monday morning at breakfast.

Parking

Riders who drive themselves to Camp Jorn may park in Yurt Village at no additional cost.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds, less a $50 cancellation fee, are available until 4 weeks prior to the start of camp (July 24th). After the 4 week deadline, refunds less the cancellation fee will be issued for medical reasons only. Written notice of cancellation from a parent or guardian must be accompanied by a doctor’s note.
